Fall In Love With Stefanie Sloane!!

Oh-Da-Lolly!!! What a fabulous day!

Please join me in welcoming the always resplendent and incredibly talented STEFANIE SLOANE to the Lovestruck Novice!

It's release day for THE SAINT WHO STOLE MY HEART (please ogle the sassy book cover!), which is book four in Stefanie's Regency Rogue Series. I had the privilege of reviewing Dash and Elena's love story before it hit bookshelves and let me just say it's an exciting dish of well-crafted deliciousness that is bound to satsify! Go ahead, spoil yourself with this tasty treat--you're worth it! (and so is the book! lol)

Without further ado, let's get down to the good stuff!

1) If you were a book, what would your blurb be?

Slightly neurotic but always entertaining, historical romance author Stefanie Sloane sets out on the formidably high seas of publishing in search of fortune and fame. And the perfect slice of chocolate cake. Join her for what’s sure to be an adventure to remember—and never repeat!

 2) Using three words, describe your voice.

Smart, sexy, and witty. Really wanted all three to start with an “s,” but “side-splitting” just did not sound right.

3) What tidbit of wisdom would you like to pass on to all the aspiring writers stopping by today? Of the advice given to you over the years, what was your favorite?

I hate to say it, but the most helpful piece of advice for aspiring writers is the one you hear time and time again: all you control is the book. If you don’t have a good book, you’ve got nothing. And the way to a good book? Writing. And writing some more. Then taking a coffee break. And writing some more. For me, an Olympic gold medalist in procrastination, this was not what I wanted to hear. But the awful truth is that it works. The more you write, the better you get, and the more likely it is that you’ll sell. Sounds so simple, right? And in many ways, it is. And in others? Not so much.

As for my favorite piece of advice? Always act in a professional manner. You never know who’s listening or just how long their memory is. And besides, it’s just plain good manners.

 4) Congrats on a double RITA final! What was it like to get "THE CALL"? Was it everything you imagined it would be?

No, not at all! Mainly because I’d convinced myself that I wouldn’t receive any nominations, so it really was a huge surprise. Not that I wasn’t just a tad bit curious, mind you. But I’d resolved to get on with my day. So I did. Juicing is one of the first things I do in the morning, and I’d just shoved a cucumber and some kale into the machine when the phone rang.

Was it RWA? I stared at the phone asking myself this question for a good five seconds before realizing that I should probably, you know, answer the phone. Only I couldn’t find the off switch for the juicer. And then I started to panic! Drama! Finally, the juicer plug was pulled and I picked up the receiver, where the lovely Lorraine Heath gave me the news.

Surreal. That about sums it up. Absolutely surreal.

 5) What do you feel are the key elements a romance novel needs to possess in order to sell in today's market?

Oh Lord, if I could answer this question I would be a millionaire. What I can say for sure is that voice plays a really important part in selling. I think an author’s unique voice is what helps to lift them above the others working in their shared genre and gain the attention of an editor. So be true to your voice, above all else.

 6) What's up next for you? Any news you'd like to share?

Well, The Saint Who Stole My Heart came out TODAY! Woot! I’m really proud of this book and hope that readers enjoy Dash and Elena’s story. Here’s a quick synopsis of this adventurous and passionate tale:

Possessed of a brilliant mind and a love for puzzles, Dashiell Matthews, Viscount Carrington, is a crucial member of the elite Young Corinthians spy league. Assuming the façade of an addle-brained Adonis, he hunts for a notorious London murderer known as the Bishop. When fate causes him to cross paths with Miss Elena Barnes, Dash discovers an enigma that will prove delightfully intoxicating to unravel: a voluptuous beauty as intelligent as she is fearless.

Only the lure of a collection of rare books bequeathed to her family by Dash’s late father could tempt Elena from her cozy rural life to the crush and vanity of London. But if Elena finds his lordship to be the most impossibly beautiful man she’s ever seen, he also seems to be the stupidest. Which made her body’s shameless response to his masterful seduction all the more unfathomable. Yet when she discovers Dash’s mission to track the dangerous Bishop, she willingly risks everything—her trust, her heart, her very life—to join him.
