I've often compared my experience of trying to learn the ropes of writing as 'swimming in murky water.'
Weird analogy, right?
Nope, not really. New writers are at a distinct disadvantage. We don't know squat!
(key the chorus).....TA-DA!
The creation of The Lovestruck Novice! I want to dedicate this page to all the other newbies out there. It is my plan to provide a haven for us new kids on the block. I'll be the first to say I don't know it all, but I'm more than happy to share what I've learned with others.
So come on in- the water is fine! Soon enough we'll be on our way to Mark Twain.. (well, it'd be nice if it were a statement of fact...*heehee*, but surprise, surprise... the pen name actually means safe waters.)
Get your floaties and flippers ready because I plan to have author interviews geared toward tips and advice on every thing from craft to publishing. When I learned a valuable tip, I'll post it here. I'll even throw in a few book reviews for the fun of it.
Just like Mr. Twain once said "Supposing is good...but finding out is better."
So hang tight- there's more to come!

What a fantastic idea, Sarah! I wish there had been something like this when I was a newbie to this business (1989--the days before internet --shudder, shudder). It's all so overwhelming when you're a new writer. A blog to go to for support and information will be invaluable!
I'm certainly no expert, but I'd be glad to help out if you ever need it, and if you're interested, I'd love to have you guest blog and talk about this (or whatever else is on your mind, LOL)
Hi Sarah, this is a great idea! It's scary as a newbie writer, not knowing what to do. I have a friend who just completed her first book and knows nothing -- I remember that moment, how daunting all the organizations could be, the "rules", etc, etc....
This is a great blog idea! I'm with Nicole - happy to help out if there's anything I can provide. :)
Thanks, Nicole and Jeannie! I appreciate that A LOT! I'll be in touch! I was lost until I joined a critique group and started paying attention. If I can save another newbie from the anxiety attacks...awesome! lol
Hi Sarah! Thanks for stopping by the Mama Writers blog!! This sounds like a wonderful idea. I can help as well, if you need it.
Thanks Viola! That's wonderful! I'll be in touch, too!
It's amazing how much you can learn and still feel like a newbie! I've written three books (and done countless drafts and revisions) yet I still feel most days like I haven't scratched the surface of the writing/publishing biz. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with, Sarah! :)
Thanks for stopping by, Cari! I swear I feel like a newbie in all aspects of life! LOL
Hi Sarah -- great idea! I'm here to help if you need me.
Hi Sarah -- I feel as writers we never stop learning. I'm looking forward to reading your blog posts!
