A Debut Author To Watch: Meet Maggie Robinson!!

It's Wow-wow-Wednesday, TLN'ers!

I've got a fabulous Debut Author you're gonna want to add to your TBB List. Please meet the lovely Maggie Robinson!

Maggie's debut novel, MISTRESS BY MISTAKE, which is the first book in the Courtesan Court Trilogy, came down from the heavens to a book store near you earlier this month. I became aware of the Marvelous Mistress Maggie by way of the Vauxhall Vixens blog. I have had a blast experiencing the delights of debuting through the eyes of the Vauxhall ladies! A truly awesome group of gals!

Besides being blessed with a smoldering cover, Mistress By Mistake has received high praise from both Beverly Kendall and Tessa Dare. Romance Junkies called MBM "Deliciously decadent and wickedly witty." If you're a lover of fiesty heroines and dashingly naughty lords, get ready to add Maggie Robinson's books to your 'Keeper Shelf'!

Hi-dee-hi-dee-oh! Here we go . . .

1) If you were a book, what would your blurb be?

“For a good time, call”…uh, wait, no. How about “wit, warmth, with a soupcon of Weltschmerz.”

2) Using three words, describe your voice.

Oh, this is hard. Sassy. Sensual. Sentimental. Obviously I have an affinity for alliteration, too.

3) Novice Writer to Published Author: How has your writing changed?

Ohmigosh, how hasn’t it changed? I used to be a horrible headhopper. I still abuse adverbs, only not so egregiously. Oops.

4) If you had to start all over again, what would be the one tidbit of advice you'd want to take with you?

I think I had to do everything the way I did to get where I am. I wish I’d started writing sooner, but I was raising four kids and didn’t have a spare moment to let my imagination run wild. But maybe—write every day and don’t let uncertainty stop you.

5) Tell us about your experience "Getting the Call"!

I worked in a high school library. When my agent called late one afternoon, I could not scream because I was in charge of saying “Shh” regularly. I had to set a good example, so I just shook and cried a little instead when I hung up.

6) Any tips or bits of inspiration for all the aspiring authors out there?

I wrote for six years before I got my first deal, and then I sold eight books in two months. So—be patient and just about anything can happen if you don’t give up.

7) What can Maggie Robinson fans expect from 2010?

Brava’s Mistress by Mistake, the first of the Courtesan Court Trilogy, will be followed by Mistress by Midnight on December 28. I also have the novella Not Quite a Courtesan in Lords of Passion (with Virginia Henley and Kate Pearce), out on November 30. My edgier alter ego Margaret Rowe debuts with Tempting Eden this June from Berkley Heat. 2010 is shaping up to be quite a year!

Wowza! I'd definitely call that a smashingly awesome breakout! Isn't it exciting?! I'd like to thank Maggie for letting me interview her. If you'd like to know more about Maggie Robinson and her steamy alter ego Margaret Rowe, click on over to her gorgeous website:

Thanks so much for having me here! I got super-fortunate with my covers---even though the books are from two different publishers, both were painted by Alan Ayers who is kind of a legendary artist of romance covers. No wonder I could not decide which one I liked best...like picking your favorite child. :) I have not seen Tempting Eden in bulk yet, but when I opened the box of my author copies of Mistress by Mistake, all that lovely sea of red made me cry all over again.

Hey, Ely! XXOO.

Micole, 2 are 'just' novellas, but I'll have 8 books to line up eventually---more if I can ever work up my next proposal so it doesn't sound so lame, LOL.
